Nicola Alberto Valente
DDS, MS, PhD is Associate Professor and Head of the Division of Periodontology at the University of Cagliari, Italy, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
He earned his DDS (magna cum laude) from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, completed a Master of Science in Oral Sciences with a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Periodontics at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and received a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Seville.
He served at the State University of New York at Buffalo as Adjunct Assistant Professor (2015–2022); in Geneva he was Chef de clinique (Head of Clinic) of the Unit of Oral Surgery and Implantology at the University Hospitals of Geneva (2017–2019) and Chargé d’enseignement (lecturer) at the University of Geneva (2018), following an ITI Scholarship (2016–2017).
His work focuses on periodontology, implant dentistry, regenerative therapies, and AI-assisted radiographic diagnostics. He contributes to several editorial boards and scientific committees and sits on the TG Oral Health board of the WHO/ITU/WIPO Global Initiative on AI for Health (GIAI4H). He is director of the ITI study club of Cagliari.
