Mr. Wathiq Mansoor
Dean of the College of Engineering
Professor Wathiq Mansoor is the Dean of the College of Engineering at the American University of Iraq – Baghdad (AUIB). He is an accomplished academic leader with extensive experience in strategic planning, institutional development, research advancement, and international collaboration.
He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Aston University, United Kingdom, and has served in senior leadership roles including Dean of Engineering & IT and Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation initiatives. Throughout his career, he has led academic transformation efforts, developed forward-looking engineering programs, strengthened governance structures, and aligned academic offerings with international accreditation standards, including ABET.
As Dean, Professor Mansoor is leading the strategic growth of the College of Engineering, focusing on academic excellence, research productivity, industry partnerships, laboratory modernization, and international accreditation. He is committed to building a research-active college that supports national development priorities while ensuring global competitiveness and graduate employability.
His scholarly expertise spans Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Deep Learning, Big Data, and AI applications in healthcare, energy systems, and intelligent infrastructure. He has supervised doctoral researchers, secured research collaborations, and contributed to interdisciplinary projects addressing real-world engineering challenges.
Professor Mansoor combines strategic vision with operational execution, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. He is dedicated to preparing future engineers equipped with advanced technical competencies, ethical leadership, and entrepreneurial mindset to serve both national and global communities.
