Dr. Saleh Jany

Dr. Saleh Jany is an accomplished dental educator, clinician, and oral and maxillofacial surgeon with more than two decades of academic and clinical experience across Iraq and the United States. He currently serves as a Clinical and Preclinical Instructor at the American University of Iraq–Baghdad (AUIB) College of Dentistry, where he teaches courses spanning oral surgery, head and neck anatomy, Oral medicine, and others.

Dr. Jany earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and Master’s degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the University of Baghdad, where he also completed a three-year residency and extensive hospital-based surgical training. He holds a Post-Master’s Higher Diploma in Laser in Medicine/Maxillofacial Surgery (HDip LM) from the University of Baghdad Laser Institute, focusing on laser-assisted oral surgical procedures.

He is a Master of Public Health (MPH) graduate and a PhD candidate in Public Health at The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health, where his doctoral research explores HPV-associated oropharyngeal cancers in the United States. His academic and clinical expertise bridges dentistry, oral surgery, laser applications in medicine, and public health.

Before joining AUIB, Dr. Jany served as a faculty member at Pamlico College in North Carolina, teaching dental technology and maxillofacial prosthetics. He previously worked for over a decade at the College of Medical Technologies in Baghdad and practiced as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Baghdad Medical City and Al-Kadhmia Dental Health Center.

Dr. Jany is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Iraqi Dental Association, Iraqi Maxillofacial Group, and the Iraqi Dental Implant Society. He is also certified by the American Board of Laser Surgery and the Laser Institute of America as a Certified Medical Laser Safety Officer (CMLSO). His published works include studies on laser applications in oral surgery, implantology, and prosthetic materials, as well as contributions to the American Board of Laser Surgery Glossary of Laser Terminology.

A passionate educator and innovator, Dr. Jany integrates traditional surgical expertise with digital and laser-based technologies, helping prepare a new generation of dentists for the evolving landscape of modern dentistry.
