Dr. Payam Foroughi
Assistant Professor of International Relations and Security Studies
Payam Foroughi has taught at a number of institutions of higher learning in the United States and the Asian continent.
He also has years of work experience as project manager, analyst and consultant with international organizations, NGOs and businesses focusing on Central Asia and the greater post-communist space. Earlier in his career, Foroughi was an amateur photographer in Iran, a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco, an intern with USAid in El Salvador, an English teacher in Japan, a business journalist in the United States, and a Human Rights Officer with the OSCE mission to Tajikistan.
His research and writings have, inter alia, appeared with the Economist Intelligence Unit; Freedom House; International Crisis Group; Central Asian Survey; Journal of Post-Communist Economies; Europe-Asia Studies; Routledge’s handbook on Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia; and the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC).
