Dr. Osama A. Elkashty
Assistant Professor and Course Director of Oral Medicine and Pathology
Before joining the American University of Iraq, Baghdad (AUIB), Dr. Osama A. Elkashty served as Assistant Professor of Oral Pathology at Mansoura University in Egypt, where he also directed the Oral Pathology programs at New Mansoura University and Delta University for Science and Technology. Over more than a decade of academic service, he has taught extensively at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervised multiple master’s and doctoral theses.
Dr. Elkashty earned his Ph.D. in Craniofacial Health Sciences from McGill University in Montréal, Canada, where his research focused on cancer stem cell biology and molecular mechanisms of oral carcinogenesis. His scholarly work has been published in leading international journals, including the British Journal of Cancer, Journal of Dental Research, and ACS Biomaterials Science & Engineering. With an H-index of 12 and over 20 peer-reviewed publications, his contributions have significantly advanced understanding in oral pathology, molecular oncology, and biomaterials.
An internationally recognized academic and innovative oral pathologist, Dr. Elkashty is a member of the International Association for Dental Research, the Canadian Association for Dental Research, and the European Association for Cancer Research. He has received numerous international awards and fellowships, including the McGill Graduate Research Enhancement and Travel Awards, the Johnson Biomedical Grant, and the Stem Cell Network Award.
At AUIB, Dr. Elkashty leads efforts to strengthen oral pathology education and research capacity in Iraq and the wider Middle East. In addition to his academic leadership, he is the founder of Elite Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Laboratory and co-founder of Elnokhba Dental Centers, bridging research excellence with clinical innovation to enhance diagnostic precision and patient care.
