Dr. Christina Larson

Department Chair of Humanities and Social Sciences and Instructor of Social Sciences

Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Christina Larson is an international educator with more than 15 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership in the United States, South Korea, Dubai, and Saudi Arabia. She joined the American University of Iraq, Baghdad in 2021 and has played a significant role in strengthening institutional processes, academic quality, and student success.

Before joining AUIB, Christina taught at a private university in Saudi Arabia where she served in several leadership positions including Exam Coordinator, Team Leader, and Head of the Physical Education Department for the Female Campus. At AUIB, she currently serves as Department Chair of Humanities and Social Sciences while also supporting academic operations as Project Manager in the Office of Academic Affairs. In these roles she has led initiatives on policy development, curriculum design, faculty coordination, and accreditation preparation.

Christina holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, a Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Development, and a Master of Science in Business in Hospitality and Tourism Management. She is licensed in English Literature, Social Studies, and Physical Education and is certified in the International Baccalaureate curriculum. Her work reflects a strong commitment to student development, academic innovation, and the expansion of high quality liberal arts education.

Beyond the university, Christina is passionate about fitness, literature, and global exploration. She has visited 87 countries so far and looks forward to continuing her travels while further contributing to AUIB’s growth and international engagement.
