AUIB Community

AUIB is not just a university, it’s a community – a community of scholars, researchers, teachers, and students determined to shape a new future for Iraq and young Iraqis.

What does it mean, though, to be part of a community?

It means being with like-minded people, with shared goals, shared values, working and living together for a common purpose, with a shared vision for the future. It is this community makes AUIB different from other universities in Iraq. When you study at AUIB, you get much more than just a degree – a credential – you get experience and memories you will carry all your life.

AUIB network

As you and your friends, both old and new, enjoy lunch and coffees in shady cafes overlooking the beautiful lakes around the Presidential Palace, you are not only building friendships that can last long past your graduation, but future business and professional contacts, your “AUIB network,” that can benefit everyone concerned.

As you study together and work on group projects together, you will learn to collaborate with others and to communicate with your colleagues as you jointly succeed in your projects, skills that will serve you well in your career later. The professors with whom you will study may well become your mentors long after you graduate as you stay in touch with them during the years that follow your studies. Even the bus drivers and other staff will help you develop your cross-cultural skills and help you develop as a global citizen.

Be a part of the AUIB community

But it’s not just in the classroom that the AUIB community’s effects are felt. Students can join clubs, join sports teams, and participate in a variety of extracurricular activities. The American Space hosts programs every week you may want to attend and there will be other special events on campus from time to time. In short, there is plenty to keep you busy outside the classroom, so take advantage of all AUIB has to offer!
