During the U.S.–Iraq Business Summit in Washington, D.C., attended by the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mr. Ali al-Zaidi, the American University of Iraq–Baghdad (AUIB) signed two major agreements with world-renowned institutions, George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School and global analytics and advisory company, Gallup, that would not only transform legal and economic education in Iraq, but also herald in a new generation of leaders in the country’s private and public sectors.
By virtue of these agreements, AUIB’s College of Law and the Antonin Scalia Law School will establish a graduate transfer program in Global Antitrust Law and Economics, offering AUIB students a direct pathway to a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Antonin Scalia Law School. By cultivating Iraqi legal talent in antitrust and competition law, this partnership will help build the regulatory and legal expertise Iraq needs to strengthen market competition, improve the investment climate, and align national economic governance with international standards, serving Iraq’s long-term economic reform.
Similarly, AUIB’s partnership with Gallup will result in the establishment of AUIB’s Leadership Institute as a permanent center of excellence, delivering executive education, applied research, leadership coaching, and professional development to current and future leaders across Iraq’s public institutions, private sector, and civil society.
These partnerships reflect AUIB’s growing international standing and its commitment to building the leadership, legal expertise, and institutional capacity needed to support Iraq’s economic growth and long-term development.
