Position: Dean, College of Law
Location: American University of Iraq, Baghdad

Job Summary: The American University of Iraq, Baghdad, is seeking a dynamic and experienced academic leader to serve as the Dean of the College of Law. The dean will be responsible for providing visionary leadership, fostering academic excellence, and advancing the college’s mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership:
Oversee the development and implementation of innovative and high-quality legal education programs.
Promote a culture of research and scholarship among faculty and students.

Strategic Planning And Administration
Develop and implement strategic plans for the college in alignment with the university’s vision.
Manage the college’s budget, resources, and facilities efficiently.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that supports diversity and inclusion.

Faculty Development
Recruit, mentor, and support faculty members in their academic and professional growth.
Evaluate faculty performance and encourage continuous improvement in teaching and research.

Student Success
Enhance student learning experiences and outcomes.
Provide guidance and support for student-led initiatives and organizations.
Ensure student access to resources and opportunities for career development.

Community Engagement And Collaboration
Build partnerships with legal professionals, government agencies, and other educational institutions.
Promote the college’s visibility and influence in legal education at national and international levels.

Qualifications
A terminal degree (JD, PhD, or equivalent) in law.
A minimum of 5 years of academic experience
A deep understanding of the Anglo-American Law (common law) and European Continental Law (Civil)
Preference is for US-educated and trained law professionals
A distinguished record of academic and professional achievement in the field of law.
Proven experience in academic leadership, preferably in a law school setting.
Demonstrated ability to foster academic excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
