JOB SUMMARY:

This position is for an experienced leader in the field of anesthesiology or anesthesia technology.  Candidates should be able to teach a broad range of courses in anesthesia and understand the role of technology and technologists in the practice of modern anesthesia.
This position will report directly to the Dean of the College of Healthcare Technologies.

Job Location: AUIB Campus, Airport Road, Baghdad, Iraq.

Areas of Accountabilities: Main Activities

Job Description, Duties, And Responsibilities:

  • Teach basic and advanced courses, including laboratories,  for undergraduate  anesthesia technology students, to include anesthesia simulation..
  • Design instructional modules and programs in novel anesthesia technology and domains to reflect the latest developments in the field.
  • Lead multidisciplinary research collaborations in anesthesia technology leading to publications in reputed journals.
  • Submit for grant funding in appropriate research topics and obtain external funding.
  • Contribute to development of testing and research facilities and laboratories in the College of Healthcare Technologies.
  • Contribute to advancing anesthesia technology in the region through designing and delivering various continuous education (CE) programs.

JOB Qualifications Minimum:

A: Education:

  • Have a terminal doctorate (MD, DO, PhD, DNAP) with specialty in anesthesia or a closely related field with significant experience in the field of anesthesiology or anesthesia technology.

B: Experience: Years/Type of Work Experience:

  • At least five years of experience in a similar role.
  • Candidates with education and experience in US and US-styled educational institutions will be preferred.

C: Licenses and Certifications:  :

  • A licensed anesthesiologist is preferred.

D:Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Research credentials and interests in any of the areas of anesthesia technology and anesthesia hygiene and related fields.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and familiarity with the American system of higher education.
  • Interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Capacity to be a good team player with strong ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and students of all cultures and to build positive spirit and always look for a better way.
  • High standard and significant record of institutional, professional, and community service leadership in research, along with successful receipt and management of funded research projects, including the supervision of research staff and students and publications of high impact outputs.
