
Dr. Robert Oliver Martin
Assistant Professor of Education

Dr. Martin leads the teaching pathway at the College of Education and Human Development. He holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Language Learning and Teaching from the University of Sheffield, along with degrees in Law (LLB Hons), BA (Open), Education (MEd), CELTA, and a Postgraduate Certificate in TESOL.
With over sixteen years of experience across a range of education sectors and higher education institutions in Iraq, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Korea, Dr Martin’s work bridges applied linguistics, intercultural competence, and teacher education.
His research examines intercultural learning in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), focusing on culturally responsive pedagogy, learner-centred curriculum design, and innovative assessment practices. A strong advocate of evidence-informed teaching, he contributes to faculty and local schools for professional development and curriculum innovation.
Dr Martin is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and a member of the British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL).
