Dr. Mohamad Hamade

Acting Dean and Professor of College of Business

Dr. Mohamad Hamade earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Syracuse University in 1998. He served on the faculty of Notre Dame University–Lebanon for twenty-three years, where he taught and contributed extensively to academic development. In 2021, he joined the American University of Iraq–Baghdad, where he continues his teaching and research activities. 

Beyond academia, Dr. Hamade has been actively engaged as a consultant on a range of projects funded by major international and national organizations, including the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Labor Organization (ILO), FAFO (Norway), and the European Training Foundation (ETF). He has also advised Lebanon’s Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Social Affairs, contributing his expertise to policy and institutional development. 

His primary research interests lie in applied microeconomics, with a focus on local public finance and the economic consequences of political instability. His work has explored how conflict and uncertainty shape critical indicators such as tourism, foreign direct investment, and expatriate remittances. Dr. Hamade is committed to bridging academic research and policy application, aiming to provide insights that inform both economic scholarship and practical decision-making in fragile and developing contexts.
