Dr. Ana Martins
Professor in Management
Before joining AUIB, she was a Professor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa where she also served as Acting Dean of the Graduate School of Business and Leadership.
Her scholarship trajectory spans over three decades and has taken her to various universities across Europe, the UK, China – Hong Kong, Africa and the Middle East. Her career embraces various committee roles such as Standing Accreditation member of the African Association of Business Schools, Quinquennial Faculty Reviewing Panel member of Business Schools, chair of School Management and School Board Committees, member of College Management Committees, University Senate Member, Academic Advisor, Personal Tutor, Task Team Member for the Quality Assurance Compliancy – Bologna System of Education and Global Manager of the Internationalization Committee, coordinator of the postgraduate diploma in human resource management in the new economy, coordinator of year 1 – masters in human resource management degree program and coordinator of year 2 – undergraduate bachelor’s in business degree program, and member in the committee of academic affairs boards. She has also mentored postdoctoral research fellows, undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as early career faculty members.
Dr. Martins earned her bachelor’s degree from University of South Africa, her postgraduate studies from the Open University in the UK and her doctorate degree in Organizational Behavior, Information Sciences and Strategic Management from the University of Fernando Pessoa. She was a recipient of a research grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Portugal). She is also an associate member of the Intellectual Capital Association in Europe.
She is a dynamic scholar in humanizing leadership and organizations. The main focus of her research in leadership is the concept of quantum leadership and the intersection between technology, values, knowledge sharing and knowledge creation, with numerous publications in leading academic journals, books and practitioner magazines. She is also a reviewer and evaluator of scholarly books and conference proceedings.
