This position will report directly to the Dean of the College of Business.
Position summary:
The teaching assistant role involves attending lectures, assisting faculty with course tasks, and providing guidance to students during sessions. It may additionally involve grading according to rubrics, setting up office hours for student support, and organizing exam schedules. In addition, the assistant will participate in training and meetings. Competencies for this position include effective communication skills, teamwork, organizational skills, and the ability to provide constructive feedback to students.
Job Location: AUIB Campus, Airport Road, Baghdad, Iraq.
Summary of key responsibilities
- Attend lectures and assist faculty in completing the course tasks and activities.
- Provide guidance and explanation to students during group/recitation/tutoring sessions.
- Assist in grading assignments, quizzes, exams, and projects according to established instructions and rubrics.
- Set up office hours to meet with students and answer their questions and provide additional support.
- Assist in organizing and coordinating exams and assignments’ schedules.
- Participate in teaching assistant training and instructors’ meetings as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a business setting
- Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely to students.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, including grading, preparing materials, and holding office hours.
- Capability to organize and maintain course materials, attendance records, and grading information with high accuracy.
