Position Summary: The Project Coordinator at the Center for Climate Change, Water Security, and Environmental Sustainability at the American University in Iraq—Baghdad (AUIB) will handle the Center’s logistical aspects. The role involves supporting research initiatives, facilitating communication among team members, organizing events and activities in the Center, and ensuring that
projects are completed on time and within budget. The Project Coordinator will play a critical role in advancing the Center’s mission to address climate, water, and environmental challenges in Iraq and the broader Middle East.
Areas of Accountabilities: Main Activities
1. Project Management:
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee project activities to ensure timely and successful completion.
• Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
• Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed to meet objectives and deadlines.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reports, proposals, and presentations.
2. Communication and Coordination:
• Facilitate effective communication among project team members, stakeholders, and external partners.
• Schedule and organize project meetings, including preparing agendas and taking minutes.
• Serve as a point of contact for project-related inquiries and information.
3. Research and Data Management:
• Support research activities by coordinating data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Ensure data integrity and maintain databases and project records.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of research publications and grant applications.
4. Event Planning and Management:
• Organize and coordinate workshops, conferences, seminars, and other events related to the
Center’s projects.
• Handle logistics, including venue selection, catering, travel arrangements, and participant registration.
• Develop and distribute promotional materials and event communications.
5. Financial Management:
• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets.
• Track project expenses and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
• Prepare financial reports and documentation for funding agencies and stakeholders.
6. Outreach and Community Engagement:
• Assist the Deputy Director in developing and implementing outreach strategies to engage the community and raise awareness about the Center’s projects.
• Create and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and academic institutions.
• Produce content for the Center’s website, social media, and newsletters.
Education Requirement: A Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experiance: At least 2-3 years of experience in project coordination or management, preferably in a research or academic setting.
• Experience with environmental or sustainability projects is highly desirable.
Competencies:
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
