This position will report directly to the Dean of the College of Healthcare Technologies.
Job Description:
AUIB established its labs and began to offer lab courses as of fall 2024. Laboratory assistants with previous experience in various laboratory areas in medical technology, basic sciences, anesthesia technology, radiological technology, and/or related fields.
This position will be responsible for:
- Preparing quarterly inventories for all laboratory equipment, reagents, and consumables in teaching, testing, and research labs.
- Assisting in the preparation of laboratory experiments.
- Chemical classification and storage.
- Assisting in the preparation of AUIB Lab manuals and the drafting of policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that quality control is maintained in the laboratories.
- Ensuring that safety measures are applied in the laboratories.
- Participating in research and testing, including pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases.
- Drafting purchasing requests and following up on placed orders under the lab manager’s direction.
- Documenting all activities and results and reporting back to management.
- Undertaking basic administrative tasks such as filing and answering telephones.
- assuming additional responsibilities and carrying out additional tasks as the lab manager, deans of health-related colleges, associate vice president for academic affairs (AVPAA), and health-related colleges may assign.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Candidates for this position must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, basic sciences, anesthesia technology, radiological technology, and/or related fields.
- At least two years of experience in a similar role.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good understanding of automated equipment and laboratory management systems.
- Strong critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
- Experience and familiarity with US-style academic institutions.
