Position Title: Administrative Assistant
Department: University Government Relations
Location: American University of Iraq, Baghdad

Position Summary: The American University of Iraq, Baghdad is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant for the University Government Relations Department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to confidentiality and hold a bachelor’s degree in law. This role involves supporting the department’s administrative functions, ensuring smooth operations, and assisting in liaising with government entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Government Relations and the department.
  • Manage and maintain schedules, appointments, and travel arrangements.
  • Prepare, review, and file legal and government-related documents with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Assist in the coordination of meetings, conferences, and events with government officials and other stakeholders.
  • Handle confidential information with utmost discretion and professionalism.
  • Draft correspondence, reports, and presentations as required.
  • Maintain organized records and databases of government relations activities and documentation.
  • Conduct research on relevant legal and regulatory issues affecting the university.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external partners to facilitate communication and coordination.
  • Perform other administrative tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field is required.
  • Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably within a government relations or legal environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Iraqi government procedures and regulations is an advantage.
