Dr. John Wall

Associate Professor of Literature

Dr. Wall began his academic career in 1991 as a researcher in the social sciences at the Centre for European Social Research, Republic of Ireland. Since 1998, he has taught literary studies at universities in Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon and Afghanistan, specializing in European modernism, world literature and classical Greek philosophy and literature.

Dr. Wall received a BA (hons) degree in philosophy and English and an MA in philosophy from University College Cork, Ireland in 1988 and 1991, respectively; an MA in philosophy and literature from the University of Warwick, UK, 1990; a PhD in English literature from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, 2000; and a post-graduate diploma in the pedagogy from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand in 2013.

Professor Wall has published articles and books on modernist literary poetics, music, and concepts of space in literature. John Wall’s current research explores new directions in the humanities as well as the ancient literary concept of metamorphosis. John Wall writes fiction and has published one short story.
